Nakisha A. Sandy is an Associate Attorney at Reel Fathers Rights in San Diego, California, where her practice focuses on representing men and fathers in California Family Courts. Admitted to the State Bar of California in 2024, she has practiced family law in California since then and represents fathers in San Diego County in divorce, child custody, child support, and domestic violence restraining order matters. She is a 2025 graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy Family Law Program and is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Nakisha A. Sandy represents fathers in San Diego County who are facing the end of a marriage or a dispute over their children. She handles divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, and domestic violence restraining orders. In a custody case, the court decides what parenting plan serves the best interest of the children, so a father needs to show the court the role he plays in their lives. In a support case, the court applies California’s guideline formula, which looks at each parent’s income and parenting time. When a restraining order request is filed, the hearing that follows can affect a father’s home, his time with his children, and his rights.
Nakisha is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and earned her B.S. in Behavioral Sciences and English from Andrews University. Before practicing law, she worked as a child protection investigator in Texas and later worked in mortgage and real estate brokerage. Her background also includes asset investigation and appellate research. She earned her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2018, where she received Trial Advocacy Honors and provided free legal services to veterans and low income clients through the school’s Family Law Clinic. In 2025 she completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy Family Law Program, a hands on course in which attorneys work through simulated trials, depositions, and courtroom proceedings.
Nakisha’s work in child protection, finance, and legal research gives her a practical view of family dynamics, financial disputes, and child welfare, the issues at the center of most family court cases. Many cases begin with a request for order, where a judge sets temporary custody, visitation, or support while the case moves forward. Outside the office, she coaches high school mock trial students in San Diego County and volunteers with TEDx San Diego. She is a member of the San Diego Family Law Bar, Lawyers Club of San Diego, the California Lawyers Association Family Law Section, and the San Diego County Bar Association. Nakisha works from the San Diego office, one of eleven Reel Fathers Rights offices throughout California.
